BARCA CANTERA BU8 COACH: WILL RELLS ASST COACH: JOURNEY MARTINEZ TEAM MANAGER: SONIA MARTINEZ Coach Will's boys were the defending champs at SuperCup having won the BU8 bracket as U7's in 2013. This year they were looking to repeat as champions, no small feat when you are playing up an age division. On Saturday, they downed Chula Vista FC 2-1. Sunday morning they dropped a heartbreaker to FC Hurricanes, but were already ensured a semi-final berth. They faced Hotspurs Red in the semis, and won 2-1. In the final, they got a rematch against FC Hurricanes and went up on them 3-0 at half and won the title 3-2! Great job boys! _____________________________________
Coach Bersain's girls played strong all weekend, shutting out Poway Vaqueros on their home turf on their way to the final. Lost a close one, but took home runner up honors! Great job girls! _____________________________________
Coach Juan's Boys were undefeated going into the final, besting FC Heat (9-3) and Oceanside Breakers (8-5) in bracket play. In the semi's the boys again faced FC Heat, winning 11-6 to move onto the final. In the final, they again faced Oceanside Breakers, this time with a different result, just coming up short in a hard-fought 6-7 loss! Three finals in three tournaments so far this new season, with two championships and one runner-up finish! Great start boys! _____________________________________
